The Texas State University’s College of Health Professions is a nationally recognized center for educating professionals in a broad array of healthcare and social service fields. Our ultimate goal is to increase the knowledge, research, and community coalitions necessary to enhance and restore the health and well being of the whole person and of society. We hope to accomplish this goal by providing a dynamic and challenging curriculum presented by our experienced faculty. Within the context of a culturally diverse community, Texas State strives to educate skilled professionals who are sensitive to current healthcare and social service needs. Our faculty provides the invaluable link between classroom theory and the reality of presenting these services to the public.
The College of Health Professions has been providing a dynamic education arena for over 30 years to graduate and undergraduate students in our beautiful campus facility. We offer degrees in clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, healthcare administration, healthcare human resources, health information management, health research, physical therapy, radiation therapy, respiratory care, and social work. There are graduate certificate programs available in biostatistics, epidemiology, healthcare administration, health informatics, long term care administration, and polysomnography. With over 1600 students enrolled in our innovative educational programs, our 60 full-time faculty and numerous staff members work diligently to give each student a personal educational experience of the highest order.
Two of our College’s Institutes have become leaders in their fields, contributing revolutionary methods of providing services. The Texas Long Term Care Institute is already changing long-term healthcare services in the state’s nursing homes, and the current outcomes of their research are planting the seeds for increased quality services to our state’s rapidly aging population. Additionally, the Walter H. Richter Institute of Social Work Research delves into issues pertaining to social welfare policy and research.
Our faculty continues to break new ground in their fields, through their scholarly contributions and ability to challenge existing paradigms of health services and therapies that will result in the improvement of patient care and health and social services. Our faculty and students are also recognized for their valuable contributions to the academic community and to the health professions both in the United States and through out the world. We are extremely proud of our alumni and their accomplishments and the excellent cohort of students currently enrolled in our various programs.
In today’s rapidly growing universe of demand for healthcare services, Texas State University stands as a model for the education and training of those professionals who will excel in this field.
We eagerly invite you to become a part of our exciting and dynamic College of Health Professions.
