Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Communication Disorders were presented with academic and clinical awards during the College of Health Professions Awards Day on April 25, 2008. Dr. Diana Gonzales, Chair of the Department of Communication Disorders, and Dr. Ruth Welborn, Dean of the College of Health Professions presented the awards and certificates to the deserving students.
Scholarship recipients among graduate students included: SERTOMA scholarship winners Cynthia Schiurring and Lacey Kubicek. Undergraduate Scholarship recipients whom were recognized included: Paul & Lois Blaney Scholarship winners Michelle Saldana and Tara Simpson; and Alumni Scholars Elizabeth Saenz and Tara Simpson.
Natalie Barrett and Crystal Roberts and Cristina Martinez were named Outstanding Clinicians of the Year.
Graduate students receiving Academic Excellence Awards were Natalie Barrett, Veronica Contreras, Jeffery Felderhoff, Meredith Gobe, Kaylan Kubicek, Amanda Lange, Pamela Mabarak, Adrian Peevy, Megan Ruehlman, Robynne Valdez, and Clementina Williams.
Undergraduate students receiving Academic Excellence Awards were Laura Collier, Tallulah Hoberman, Timothy Jaquez, Kathryn Jones, Genee Kim, Lucy Ozanne, Michelle Saldana, and Tara Simpson. Undergraduate Scholarly Acheivement awards were given to Leah Cinalli, Deanna Crick, Rachel Foster, Jamee Lowery, Cynthia Pepas, and Hayley Simpson.
