Sue Biedermann joined the HIM Program as Faculty/Clinical Coordinator in 1980 and was made Program Director in 1984. She is currently past-president of the Texas Health Information Management Program (TxHIMA) having served two other times as Director-at-Large and in the President rotation, and as delegate to the national house of delegates six times. At the national level, she has been an accreditation site visitor for over 10 years with additional past service to include the Professional Conduct Committee, Nominating Committee, AOE Strategy Task Force, and Project Manager for the Professional Resource Task Force. Mrs. Biedermann recently completed the AHIMA Research Institute which was a year-long program focused on conducting practice-based research. Her research areas of interest include the personal health record, medical identity theft and quality of care. She has co-authored several refereed publications and numerous reports and presents frequently at state and national meetings on educational practices and various HIM-related topics. She received the College of Health Professions Faculty Excellence Award in 2006 and was selected as an Alpha Chi Favorite Professor in 1990 and 1991.

Desla Mancilla, MPA, RHIA joined the Health Information Management Program in 2004 and is on a tenure track line. Recently appointed to the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management Panel of Accreditation Surveyors, Mancilla has also served in numerous other national, state and local HIM capacities. In 2008-2009, Mancilla is serving as the Chairman of the American Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) Annual Convention Program Committee. Previous appointments include serving as a member of the AHIMA virtual lab strategic advisory committee, co-chair of the RHIA construction committee exam, and chairman of the tellers committee. In 1995, Mancilla served as the President of the Indiana Health Information Management Association after having previous served two terms as delegate, and as the publications and release of information committee chairman. In addition to these voluntary appointed and elected positions, Mancilla speaks on a variety of topics related to HIM subjects on a national, state and local level. Mancilla is currently the principal investigator on a funded grant study on the topic of medical identity theft. Mancilla has authored chapters in two books as well as several referred and non-referred publications.

Jackie Moczygemba joined the Health Information Management Program in 1995. She was awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor in 2001. She was recently appointed to the American Health Information Management Association's exam construction committee for the Certified Coding Analyst (CCA) credential. Jackie is currently a secondary investigator in an exploratory foundational study to examine current practices used by acute healthcare facilities in response to medical identity theft. In addition, Jackie served on the board of the Texas Health Information Management Association as the Public Relations Director in 2002-2004. She has also served as secretary for the Alamo Area Health Information Management Association in 2001-2002. Jackie's past awards include Faculty of the Year Award in the College of Health Professions in 2000-01, Favorite Professor Award from the Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society in 1997, and Guest Coach for the Texas State University Department of Athletics Guest Coaches Program in 1997. She has authored and co-authored several refereed publications and has given scholarly presentations at national and state conferences.

Danette Myers started with the program in 2006 after having worked as the Health Information Management Security Officer for an Austin hospital for four years. Her primary areas of teaching currently include HIM departmental management and medical terminology. She is also the lead faculty in the HIM Practicum and HIM Seminar courses taken by the seniors during their internship semester.

Linda Lamb is a graduate of the Texas State MRA Program and started as an adjunct faculty teaching the coding courses in the spring of 2008. Mrs. Lamb is currently the Coding Manager for Christus Santa Rosa Healthcare in San Antonio.

Linda Thomas has been with the Health Information Management Program since 1986. She has received grants for research in the areas of Images and Perceptions in the Health Professions and Instructional Media and Student Learning. She has authored several refereed publications and has given scholarly presentations at national, state and local conferences. Linda served on the board of the Texas Health Information Management Association as Legislative Director and delegate to the national association; member of the Texas Medical Foundation's Master Committee; and on committees for the regional HIM association. She has been faculty sponsor for the Golden Key National Honor Society at Texas State as well as for the HIM Student Organization.Linda has received the College of Health Profession's Faculty of the Year Award and the Excellence in Service Award. She is founder of the College's Research Forum, which is now in its 12th year. Linda currently teaches a variety of HIM courses and serves as the Program's Clinical Coordinator.
