
Dr. Roesemann earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing Health Services Administration, and Doctorate from the University of Michigan. She comes to Texas State from Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was Dean of Nursing and MSN Program Director with the rank of Professor. Her nursing education teaching experience spans more than 12 years at The University of Michigan, Marymount University, George Mason University and Clarkson College. She was inducted in 1980 as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. Her published works appear in the Journal of Nursing Law and Nursing Economics. She is on the editorial boards of the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing and the Journal of Advanced Nursing.


Gloria Brandburg received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Houston Baptist University in 1985. She continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 1988 and a Master of Science in Nursing Degree in 1997; and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Texas Woman’s University in 2009. Dr. Brandburg began her nursing career in critical care, specializing in cardiology. She later moved into home health care as a field nurse, case manager, and program development director. Most recently she has practiced as a geriatric nurse practitioner in long-term care and rehabilitation. As a nurse educator, Dr. Brandburg has over 15 years teaching experience. She has taught in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and as an education director in the hospital and home health settings. In November 2009, Dr. Brandburg joined the faculty at Texas State University School of Nursing. Her research interests include gerontology and nursing education.
Dr. Covington has more than 35 years experience in civilian and military health care systems and higher education, distance education and health care informatics. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctorate from Texas A&M University. She is a retired colonel in the Army Nurse Corps. During the past 15 years her consulting, teaching, publishing and research has focused on infrastructure development, evaluation of and sustainment for education in the academic, clinical and consumer settings including the development of Web sites, course management systems and reusable learning object repositories for online learning for clinicians and consumers, clinical simulation and nursing education and health care systems low to high fidelity technology implementation across the U.S and overseas. Her academic positions include director and associate dean for information and learning resource centers and information and learning technologies at universities in Texas and Maryland. She is currently associate professor at Texas State University in the School of Nursing.

Regina earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from the College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Nursing, Lubbock, Texas. Her post-master’s degree is in Family Nurse Practitioner from West Texas A & M University, Canyon, Texas. She has 11 years of teaching and nursing experience, which includes: adult medical-surgical, critical care, and pediatric nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her area of teaching at Texas State University is Medical-Surgical nursing and Critical care nursing.

Dr. Lockhart has a variety of professional experiences in direct care, administration, regulation and nursing education. As a nurse leader, she consults with acute and primary care healthcare facilities and professionals on performance improvement, culture of safety and compliance with regulatory and professional standards. She started the initial planning for the new nursing program in 2003, and is currently associate professor in the School of Nursing. Dr. Lockhart’s special interests include curriculum development for the 21st century for nursing, innovative teaching strategies, and compliance and safety in healthcare in rural as well as metropolitan settings. Dr. Lockhart received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Texas Medical Branch, an Master of Science in Nursing from University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Kathleen has more than 30 years of experience in the Nursing Profession covering everything from practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife to educating future nurses. She starting her education with an Associate Degree in Mental Health and added an Associate Degree in Nursing from Inver Hills Community College. Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Science from Sierra Nevada College. Kathleen obtained her Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Planned Parenthood of Central & Northern Arizona which was associated with the University of Phoenix. She completed her Nurse-Midwifery Certificate through Parkland School of Nurse-Midwifery in 2000 and has had the opportunity to assist with 848 births. She has also worked as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Obstetrical/Gynecological for 15 years. Her Master’s Degree in Nursing was earned through Western University of Health Science in Pomona, California in 2005 and Kathleen is currently working on the Doctor of Nursing Practice at Western University of Health Science. Kathleen joined the faculty at Texas State University in January 2010 and her area of instruction will be maternal/child.

Dr. Rowder has more than 17 years experience as a nurse, with 7 years spent in Clinical Research and 6 years as an educator. She holds 3 degrees from Texas Woman's University: a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a speciality in Medical Surgical Care of Adults, and a Doctorate. Prior to coming to Texas State University, she spent 3 years as a faculty member at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where she taught health assessment, undergraduate and graduate research, and supervised junior and senior clinical students. Prior to her faculty affiliation, she was the Clinical Research Director for North Texas Neurosurgical Associates where her work earned national recognition for North Texas Neurosurgical Associates and resulted in presentations nationally and internationally. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and has been a traveling scholar from this organization to India, Russia, and Singapore. She is currently an Associate Professor at Texas State University in the School of Nursing.
Josie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio School of Nursing. She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Josie is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health. Her nursing experience includes: medical-surgical, critical care, education, home health, community health nursing and parish nursing. She has worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the area of Sleep Medicine. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is the founder of the Jill Earl Waddy Endowment nursing scholarship at UTHSCSA-SON. Her area of teaching at Texas State University is Community Health Nursing.
