The graduates will be knowledgeable of the variable cultural and societal environments within the health care delivery system and will function as clinical problem solvers in a variety of settings. Implicit in the curriculum is development of the application of evaluation skills, program planning and intervention, teaching-learning processes, leadership and group dynamics, management and research. Top Three Priorities in Planning 2007-2008

1. Academic Programs - Develop final plan and implement the DPT in summer 2008.

2. Scholarship/Creative/Grants - Collectively enhance efforts of faculty in collaboration with other departments on campus to increase scholarly productivity.

3. Development - Develop an active alumni association.

DPT Approved

After several years of hard work, the Department of Physical Therapy faculty are excited that final approval of the  Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum was received in July.  The DPT curriculum will be in effect Summer 2008.  This means that those students applying for the PT program in October 2007 will be submitting an application to the initial DPT class.  This program will be three years in length, nine full time semesters.  Classes will start in the summer session as the MSPT currently did and will conclude with graduation in May three years later.  Many changes have been made in the curriculum - we have taken what we do well and have improved and enhanced it.  New additions will be curriculum content in medical imaging, pharmacology, clinical decision making, and additional clinical education.  Feel free to call the Department Office if you have questions.
