Respiratory Care General Admissions Requirements:
To be considered for admission to the Respiratory Care Program, applicants must meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Be admitted to Texas State University-San Marcos
- Have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Complete RC 1313, Introduction to Respiratory Care, with a minimum grade of “C”

- Follow the directions and be sure to submit the application, 3 references, 1 written statement as to WHY you should be considered by the Admission Committee as a RC major and the completed ADA form.
Polysomnography Undergraduate Course of Studies Requirements:
An applicant may be admitted to the Polysomnography (PSG) Undergraduate Course of Studies by following the application procedure and meeting the following minimum admission requirements:
- Submit a PSG Application for Admission to the Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State.
- Submit one official transcript from each higher education institution attended. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution to the Department of Respiratory Care. Applicants must have an overall 2.5 GPA.
- Apply for admission to Texas State University-San Marcos Admissions Office and fulfill all admission requirements.
Polysomnography Post-Bac Course of Studies Requirements:
An applicant may be admitted to the Polysomnography (PSG) Post-Bac Course of Studies by following the application procedure and meeting the following minimum admission requirements:
- Submit a Graduate College Application for Admission to the Office of the Graduate College at Texas State.

Pay a $10 non-refundable application fee (check or money order payable to Texas State in U.S. currency).

Submit one official transcript from each senior level post-secondary institution attended. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution to the Office of the Graduate College. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA on the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work before the bachelor’s degree. If a student has completed a master’s or doctoral degree, a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is required.
- Submit a PSG Post-Bac Application for Admission to the Department of Respiratory Care.
- You must be accepted by both the Graduate College and the Department of Respiratory Care.
