Although there are no dorms on the Round Rock campus, there are many apartment complexes near campus. Texas State has worked closely with apartment management to develop "student-friendly apartment leases" recognizing the academic school year and student needs.
There are many opportunities for program-specific student organizations to engage in student activities in the Round Rock community. Technology will be available for students in organizations to connect with their San Marcos partners through Zoom, Skype, etc.
Moving the departments of CDIS, PT, and RC to Round Rock to join the St. David’s School of Nursing will establish a “health campus” that has a focus on professional programs in a singular manner. This type of educational experience is similar to the Health Science Center experience found at medical schools and health science campuses.
The Sleep Center will remain fully operational through August 2018. Beginning September, 2018, the Texas State Sleep Center will be relocated to Willow Hall on the Round Rock campus only. The Sleep Center in San Marcos will be closed.
The only course that will be taught on the San Marcos campus is RC 2213, Introduction to Respiratory Care for pre-RC majors each Spring semester. RC 2213 will also be taught as an online course each summer.
Courses for students in the RC major will all be taught in Round Rock.
Moving the departments of CDIS, PT, and RC to Round Rock to join the St. David’s School of Nursing will provide a similar educational experience found at medical schools and health science campuses. In addition, collaboration between these programs in the area of research and interprofessional education will be realized.
